Allocation of Funds

As we are a small charity reliant on donations and fund raising events, we can only support a limited number of causes each year.

The Society supports worthy causes that offer support to people irrespective of their cultural, ethnic or religious background.

Special care is taken to ensure that the organisations we support demonstrate the capability and capacity to utilise the resources in a manner that will have a lasting impact.

Each application is assessed by the Funding Evaluation Committee of the Sri Lanka Society according to strict criteria. Each request is evaluated  according to the ability of the organisation to use the funds in a timely and transparent manner. Priority is given to projects which do not receive significant funding from other sources. 

• The maximum allocation is £2000  (approximately  LKR 900,000)
• Grants can be made for equipment and materials but not for staff salaries or income support for people from deprived communities. 
• Priority is given to organisations and projects which have not received funding before.  Organisations making a repeat request can do so only after 3 years of receiving initial funding.

Once funds have been approved members monitor their use and report back on their effectiveness.
