A selection of projects we have supported

Appe Lanka - Equal Chances

  • Appé Lanka’s, “Equal Chances” initiative distributes exercise books through schools.
  • The SL Society with funding received from the Thomas Family Foundation purchased 2000 book sets to benefit 2000 of the poorest children in the Poonakary region, Kilinochchi.

Appé Lanka – Home Gardens

  • Appé Lanka promotes initiatives on food security and nutrition for the benefit of school children.
  • The SL Society funded the development of 2 “Home Gardens” in Children's Centres
  • 500 children benefitted with locally grown produce.

Child Action Lanka (CAL) – WRAP program

  • CAL supports children and mothers of low/no income families with numerous sustainability projects to help empower families.
  • The WRAP project provides women from rural areas with resources to learn and develop skills needed to earn an income and provide for their families.
  • The SL Society funded the purchase of 10 sewing machines and material for use at CAL’s centres in Killinochchi and Mullaitivu, Northern Province  for mothers to make garments, generate income and support their families.

The Ceylon Fellowship of Service (CFS) - Prithipura Home

  • CFS Prithipura Home is a residential facility and a permanent home, in Wattala, Western Province for 60 less abled male and female residents, some of whom  have been with CFS since childhood.
  • The Home provides a caring and safe environment for residents who need special care and attention.
  • The SL Society assisted CFS Prithipura Home by donating:

Physiotherapy equipment

A custom-built wheelchair

      Furniture for the dormitories 

                                  Medicines when in short supply in the country

SLMCS Mealcare

  • The Mealcare for Schools project provides balanced and nutritious meals for underprivileged children enduring extreme food poverty. The project has ensured access to fresh and wholesome ingredients and reaches up to 40 Schools in the Colombo region.
  • The program has so far provided over 250,000 meals to over 10,000 children.
  • In 2024, the Sri Lanka Society funded the provision of 8,000 meals for distribution across 25+ schools.  

Sri Lanka Cancer Society

  • The SLCS provides care and solace to cancer patients.
  • For SLCS’ Shantha Savana hospice, located in Maharagama, Colombo district,  the SL Society funded:
