The Sri Lanka Society (SLS) was established in 1975 by a passionate group of Sri Lankans living in and around London, united by a common vision of providing charity support to the disadvantaged in Sri Lanka. Our early fundraising lunches took place at the Ceylon Tea Centre in London. The Society operates as a non-religious, non-political organization, where members come together to promote community aid, regardless of their cultural, ethnic, or religious backgrounds. The Sri Lanka Society is governed by its Articles and Memorandum of Association.

Our founder members who have been instrumental in our charity support for the Sri Lanka Society and community aid initiatives were: Dr. Raja Goonatilake, Mrs. Ratna Rajapakse, Dr. Ramanathan Sri-Pathmanathan, and Mr. Harry Seevaratnam (photo not available).

The committee members of the Sri Lanka Society manage the day to day affairs of the Society on a voluntary basis, focusing on charity support and community aid. Members cover the costs of postage, meetings, travel, and other incidental expenses. They also pay an annual membership fee and contribute towards the cost of events that promote the mission of the Sri Lanka Society.
